Design Story:
The Tilt arcade at Northwest Plaza in St. Ann was a beloved destination for St. Louis area teens and families . Housed in the mall's lower level, it was a vibrant space filled with neon lights, black lights, and a wide array of games including skeeball, air hockey, and video games.
When the mall was renovated and enclosed in 1989, the Tilt was significantly expanded into a massive, 40,000 square-foot family entertainment complex. This version of Tilt also featured an 18-hole miniature golf course, making it a major attraction. However, after years of the mall's decline, increased competition, and changing ownership, the Tilt arcade ultimately closed its doors for good in the summer of 2007. The space, along with the rest of the mall, fell into disrepair, but the Tilt remains a fond memory for many who grew up in the area.
