Black Lives Matter. Forever.

RIP George Floyd.

RIP George Floyd.

I usually dont speak on this directly through my business’s platform, but I couldnt help but notice an over abundance of “attention” these past few days after the videoed execution of George Floyd. While social issues is something I definitely pay close attention to in my personal life, I have noticed that things have been picking up lately. Like theres a kind of “new initiative” for people seeking out Black voices, Black businesses, and particularly “Black Lives Matter shirts” as it pertains to Onetime Supply Co.. Im seeing a spike in sales for Black Lives Matter tshirts even though they’ve been on shelves here at OSC since 2016 or so. I encourage the uptick in attention to the culture and Black issues, but I cant help but wonder where all the attention was succeeding the deaths of Tamir Rice. Sandra Bland. Mike Brown. Trayvon Martin, and countless others.

With that said, I shared a few raw and uncensored words on IG and FB as the events are unfolding—

So it seems the BLM shirts have gotten quite popular over the weekend. Which is good I suppose. Such a far-cry from me being/ feeling uneasy about placing them on display in the window in sight from the sidewalk to them being such rare items to find.

At any rate, Im sending out the many online orders that I've received over the weekend and am currently printing more of them now. But as a Black man that owns a Black-owned business here -- please dont let this simply be "fanfare". Purchasing or wearing the shirt is cool but please, talk to your friends. Talk to your family. Talk to your coworkers. BLM isnt a "trend" for some of us. And if you dont have talking points for the people you're going to talk to, please do research, or hell -- call the studio here. I'll answer as many questions as I can myself.

Rest in Peace Mr. George Floyd.

Peace and Love,

P

My heart goes out to the many Black men and women in my community that we’ve senselessly lost at the hands of those who are both paid and sworn to protect us. These people were someone’s father, someone’s mother, their child, friend or family member. This saddens me deeply and here we are with another. Simply despicable. Hopefully as this “new found attention” for Black voices and Black businesses ramps up — we continue to see a continued support for our culture and voices as it’s greatly needed and appreciated. Not something to be here today-gone tomorrow due to guilt.
